Central Eastside Executive Director Shares Successes and Transitions to New Leadership
Clare Briglio, Executive Director of the Central Eastside Industrial Council (CEIC) and Central Eastside Together (CET), announced she is leaving her position in August. As the leader of both key organizations working to revitalize the Central Eastside, Briglio was responsible for spearheading the 90-day reset recently completed by the City of Portland.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to have led the Central Eastside through this difficult time,” Briglio said. “I’m very proud of the work of our businesses and team during my time here. I’m pleased with the results of the City of Portland’s 90-day reset, which took hard work, collaboration and diligent ongoing effort to turn this district around. I’ve done what I set out to do, which was to stabilize the District and attract new makers, artists and entrepreneurs to the Central Eastside.”
During Briglio’s tenure, she initiated strategic planning for the Central Eastside Industrial Council which led to the development of a mission statement and organizational plan for the next two years, increased revenue for the District’s safety and cleaning services and strategized a successful business forum that elevated the voices and concerns of the District’s local businesses. This all resulted in the City of Portland taking action with the 90-day reset plan.
“Central Eastside Industrial Council and Central Eastside Together are deeply grateful for the time and investment that Clare has given to both organizations and the community at large,” said Eric Cress, CEIC Board President. “She has successfully led both organizations through a tremendous amount of change, improved the District by partnering with the Mayor’s office and local leaders during the reset focusing on safety, cleaning and accessibility. As a result of her leadership, the CEIC has a member-endorsed strategic plan that sets a clear direction for our District’s continued growth and improvement. We wish Clare nothing but the best of success in the future.”
Cress said the organization is committed to a smooth transition to new leadership. He expects to announce an interim leader shortly.
