Discover the Avenue of Murals in Portland's Central Eastside
Welcome to Portland's Central Eastside, where a vibrant transformation is underway, turning the district into a canvas of creativity and color. The Central Eastside Industrial Council (CEIC) and Central Eastside Together (CET) have partnered with the Portland Street Art Alliance (PSAA) to bring you the "Avenue of Murals"—an awe-inspiring public art corridor stretching from the Eastbank Esplanade to 2nd Avenue on Madison Avenue.
What is the Avenue of Murals?
The Avenue of Murals is a dynamic project that has reimagined the space beneath bridges, transforming them into works of art. With ten new murals commissioned by CET, for a total of 18, each piece reflects the unique spirit and history of the Central Eastside. The themes, voted on by community members, include the district's industrial past, cargo ships, freight trains, produce row, steam education, makers hub, river access, and local flora and fauna. This community involvement ensures the artwork resonates with those who live and work in the area.

Celebration Ride
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Avenue of Murals Celebration Ride! On August 2, 2024 cyclists and art enthusiasts came together for a one-night-only event to explore the stunning new murals and celebrate at Central Eastside’s newest community space, Bear Blocks. It was a fantastic evening filled with community spirit, public art, and a memorable ride through the district.
