Problem Solvers Meeting

The Public Environment Management Office (PEMO) was established through an emergency declaration in May 2022 to marshal City programs and services into a collaborative team to expedite the cleaning of unsafe and unsanitary conditions across the public realm and establish preventative and stabilizing measures to further activate public spaces.

Anchored in neighborhood business districts, PEMO convenes district coalitions, adjacent neighborhood association leadership, and key community organizations in bi-monthly Problem Solver meetings. These meetings are your opportunity to report community concerns and discuss opportunities with City staff.

The 30-minute agenda is grounded in partnership, accountability, and outcomes. Meetings are practical and solutions-oriented, focusing on reporting, follow-up, action, and new issues. City staff update community members on the status of issues from the previous meeting and district representatives report new problems and describe opportunities. On-the-ground improvements include removing nuisances while activating or stabilizing the public realm.

In these meetings, we want to hear from you about what's going on in your community.  We look forward to partnering with you to lift up Portland communities!
