TriMet: Proposed 2026 Transit Service Changes

The TriMet Board of Directors is now considering updated service change proposals to go into effect Aug. 23, 2026, as we take action to balance our budget.

TriMet is planning major changes to transit service starting in August.

The transit agency shared its updated service proposals on March 11, informed by public feedback on an earlier set of proposals that were published in January.

In a significant update from its January proposals, TriMet now plans to maintain bus service on Northeast Glisan Street, including service to Providence Portland Medical Center. TriMet is combining the Glisan segment of Line 19 with Line 58, as Line 19-Glisan/Canyon Rd.

TriMet still plans to extend Line 4 and Line 10 to cover Line 19’s route in Southeast Portland.

Line 4-Fessenden/Woodstock will run between Downtown Portland and Lents Town Center, with additional service along Southeast Woodstock Boulevard.

Line 10-Steele will run bettrimet.org/servicecutsween Downtown Portland and the Mt. Scott neighborhood. The updated route proposal for Line 10 now serves Duke Street between 52 nd and 72 nd avenues. Line 10 will run from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekdays.

The TriMet Board of Directors is now considering these proposed changes. You can provide comments through email to boardtestimony@trimet.org or at a TriMet Board meeting. A special listening session on the service proposals will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 18. The TriMet Board holds its regular business meeting on March 25. The Board is expected to vote to adopt the proposals on April 22. Cost increases from inflation, revenue declines, and insufficient funding to sustain service levels are driving an ongoing gap between TriMet’s expenses and resources. TriMet began resizing the agency in 2025 to reduce spending, a process that will continue in 2026 and 2027. To balance its budget, TriMet also needs to reduce and consolidate service. Additional service changes will be needed in August 2027.
