I-5 Southbound Closure Businesses Toolkit

Beginning in September of 2026, all lanes of I-5 southbound will close 24 hours, 7 days a week, for up to 5 weeks. Plan ahead; significant delays and unpredictable travel times

I-5 through the Rose Quarter is aging and needs repairs. The roadway surface has surpassed its 25-year lifespan and shows its age with an increasing number of ruts, cracks, and potholes from heavy use. The goal is to repair and reinforce weak areas, replace bridge joints, resurface the concrete deck, and repaint lane lines on the highway.

The work will require closing all lanes of I-5 southbound around the clock for up to 5 weeks through the Rose Quarter, starting in September 2026. I-5 will reopen as soon as the work is complete.
