Central Eastside Together Now Accepting Applications For Better Together Grant

$40,000 in funding available for District Businesses

Central Eastside's Enhanced Service District, Central Eastside Together, is now accepting applications for the 2026–2027 Better Together Grant, marking the sixth cycle of the program supporting business-led events, activations, and placemaking projects in the district. Applications are open for projects taking place between January 1 and September 1, 2027.

The program invests in projects that increase foot traffic, support local businesses, and create memorable experiences that encourage people to explore the Central Eastside and return. Preference is given to proposals that create measurable economic benefits and have the potential to grow into recurring district traditions.

This cycle offers a total of $40,000 in funding, with individual awards up to $8,000. 

Eligible projects must be led by a business with a physical location within the Central Eastside Industrial District, take place within the district, be open to the public, and engage at least three businesses or organizations as active collaborators. That partnership can take many forms, including co-hosting, cross-promotion, shared programming, providing a venue, contributing staff or materials, or hiring local vendors.

Applications are due October 20, 2026.

"Since introducing this program, we've learned a lot about what makes these projects successful," said Carolyne Holcomb, Executive Director of Central Eastside Industrial Council. "The strongest outcomes come from projects where businesses collaborate closely and invest in each other. This cycle's updates reflect that finding. We will continue to prioritize in-district collaboration across expanded definitions of eligible projects.”
